La Habana
La Habana is a small family business that provides lodging in the middle of the Amazon jungle and only 20 minutes from the city of Puerto Maldonado.
We are a Private Conservation Area (PCA) of 32 hectares and the venture began 20 years ago in order to provide lodging in the middle of our jungle in order to protect our Amazon rainforest.
That is why we conserve the 33 hectares of forest as ACP and as a tourist attraction for our clients because the forest has a 4 km trail to learn about the flora and fauna of our Amazon.
We offer matrimonial or family cabins. Our architecture is made of local material, we have a small farm or orchard where we temporarily collect citrus fruits and bananas that are used for our cooking. Our restaurant delights our guests with Peruvian food and our swimming pool next door offers the opportunity for our guests to relax and enjoy our Amazon rainforest.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR VISIT
Havana is located 9 km from Puerto Maldonado and belongs to the Tambopata Tourist Corridor, 100 m from the Tambopata River. However, Havana is not a remote hostel, but a Lodge with services such as electricity, wifi, hot and cold water.
But you have to remember that the jungle is a very difficult environment, where power outages and wifi outages can occur due to strong storms, torrential rains and falling trees on the power lines. Moreover, we are not alone; The jungle is home to thousands of insects and animals. Despite efforts to keep insects away, be prepared to see them at the lodge.
While you will experience the Amazon rainforest in all its glory in Havana, we appreciate your understanding should you experience any challenges during your stay.
ABOUT INSECTS
All our cabins are designed to keep “the jungle out”: all windows have mosquito nets, to ensure air circulation and keep insects out. In addition, we recommend following these rules:
- Apply mosquito repellent (and reapply frequently, as directed)
- Insects love light: Turning off lights, whenever possible, not only helps keep insects going, but also reduces energy consumption
- In your Cabin: never open the door and leave it open. A lot of mosquitoes will come in.
- In your cabin: Do not leave food or drink open.
HOW TO GET THERE

CLIMATE
In the jungle of Puerto Maldonado the temperature generally exceeds 80 ̊F/27 ̊C (during the day). Rainfall is most intense from December to March. From April to August, the jungle can experience sudden drops in temperature: this is the so-called “friaje”, cold air from Antarctica that reaches the jungle. It can last for a few days and temperatures can reach a minimum of 57 ̊F/14 ̊C. Also, as the name suggests, it rains a lot in the rainforest, which can sometimes be intense. Be prepared and bring appropriate clothing and footwear (e.g., hiking boots).
WHAT CLOTHES TO BRING
Although it is sometimes hot and humid, we recommend always wearing long pants and long-sleeved shirts (e.g., light cotton or functional clothing) to protect yourself from insects and the sun.
What to bring: waterproof boots or sneakers for walking, hat, swimsuit (for our pool), sunglasses, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and of course, camera and binoculars to capture the beauty of the rainforest.
RESTAURANT
A combination of ingredients from the jungle, coast and mountains make our restaurant a unique experience.
The Amazon covers 60% of Peru’s surface and generates a wide variety of products used by Peruvians in their daily diet. Our restaurant offers a limited but delicious menu.

SWIMMING POOL
Our pool is outdoors surrounded by the entire Amazon forest. We have two swimming pools for our guests. One small and the other a little bigger, both are to enjoy unforgettable moments in the Peruvian jungle.

We are surrounded by nature, home to various native species of Puerto Maldonado, with an unparalleled climate that invites adventure and relaxation.

Discover the majesty of the Amazon, where nature comes to life in its purest and wildest form.

The Green Heart of America: The Peruvian Amazon
The Peruvian Amazon is one of the most extraordinary and biodiverse destinations on the planet. Located in the heart of the South American continent, it encompasses a vast region of tropical forest that forms a fundamental part of the Amazon rainforest, the green lung of the world. This immense natural paradise is not only a haven for countless species of fauna and flora but also a place where indigenous cultures maintain a deep and respectful connection with their environment.
